Do you still remember the times when you had to go to a photo shop just to develop your pictures? With the help
of modern technologies like digital cameras, pictures can be viewed right away. You can also share pictures by
uploading them online.
But what if you’re the type of person that loves to display treasured moments in a frame? The joy of seeing
precious pictures in your wall and even at your desk is made possible by photo paper.
Inkjet photo paper was particularly designed for replication of photographs. The process of
developing the photo paper is by bleaching to have a bright white surface and may also include titanium dioxide. In
order to limit the dissemination of the ink, the paper will be coated with great amounts of refined clay as an
absorbent material.
Photo paper has 3 kinds of variation; partially matte or silk, glossy and matte finish. Usually, you can only
print on one side of photo paper since the glossy coating is only applied on one side. However, there are also
specific papers for back to back printing.

Now some people carefully choose a kind of inkjet photo paper for a quality outcome. How will you consider a
good quality photo paper? Considering there is a lot of inkjet papers, there are basically 4 choices; Opacity,
Caliper, Brightness and finish.
Opacity- Decreased opacity translate to a lesser tendency for the ink to push through on the other side. For
double-side printing, opacity is a big deal. Bleed-through of ink is not a problem with Inkjet Photo Paper because
of the greater amount of opacity.
Caliper- It is the thickness of the paper. A normal caliper of inkjet paper is from 4.3 to 10.4 mil thickness. A
photo paper should be typically 7 to 10 mil of caliper to sustain larger ink exposure that photos needed.
Brightness- The whiteness of the paper seems necessary to surpass the brightness needed in a photo. However, you
cannot tell right away if the photo paper has a good brightness effect and for that reason you need to compare it
to other photo paper side by side.
Finish- There is 2 classifications of Finish; Glossy and Matte. Glossy photo paper has the shine effect that may
level up the photographic result. Some glossy paper that absorbed ink dries up slowly. However, the common gloss
papers are those who have a quick dry substance. Matte on the other hand has a non glossy effect. For images, matte
photo has smooth results without the shiny effect. It has a thickness required for printable photos and you can use
both side of the paper. The difference of these two is; Glossy photo paper is mostly used for magazines while Matte
photo paper is more on personal photos.
The fast pace of technologies are useful in our lifestyle. You can now have your own gallery of pictures with
